Who will win?

Never in the history of the race has there been such a collection of excellent racers.

First the racers and boats then our opinion of the outcome. ......................................,,............... (I know what you are thinking who is this guy to comment? Well I watched challenges 2 to 9 - years 1961 to 1969 and have since written the history of the event)

Caanan Canada
Invictus II GB
Patient Lady VI France (US boat sold to Canadians borrowed to be sailed by French team)
Orion Canada
So what will happen?

First and foremost we have some real catamaran racers, secondly we have a lot of untried boats.

The great problem is half the helms are speed sailers not real fighters in tight spots - these guys will be at a huge disadvantage against the racers.

Being second over the line in a match race is no place to be; even with the faster boat you will be kept in the dirty air.

So boat by boat:

Cogito - very good chance - well sorted boat with guys who are winners. gone

Aetheon - too untested an experiment - unlikely to do well. Now got worse with old rig

Alfa - last winner - superceded by Orion

Orion - good chance - best sailing team in a sorted boat.

Caanan - recently fell to bits - may happen again.

Patient Lady IV - training team of French in the oldest boat - not really in it.

Invictus II - not racers and a boat not raced against another C-Class - unlikely to do anything but learn.

So based on the above the final match races will be between Orion and Alfa with the Canadian team just winning it.
